This page explains what we collect, why we collect it, and how to get it deleted. It covers this website and the automatic Instagram reply that sends pre-order details to anyone who comments a keyword on one of Chris Vacher’s posts.

Instagram comment replies

Chris runs an automatic reply on his Instagram account, @heychrisvacher. Comment a keyword such as LONGWAY on one of his posts and you will get a direct message with pre-order details for the book, usually along with a short public reply on your comment.

You receive that message because you commented first. It is one message per comment. Nothing follows it unless you write back and start a conversation.

When Instagram tells us about your comment, we record:

• your Instagram username
• your Instagram-scoped ID, an identifier Meta issues for this app alone. It is not your Instagram account ID and cannot be used to find you anywhere else.
• the text of your comment
• the ID of the post you commented on
• which keyword matched, whether a message was sent, when it was sent, and any error
• the notification Meta sent us, stored as received so we can troubleshoot a failed reply. It contains the same details listed above.

That record lives in a private PostgreSQL database hosted by Supabase. Only Chris and the Clearway team can read it. We do not sell it, do not share it with anyone else, and do not use it for advertising. It exists so the right reply goes out, so nobody is messaged twice for the same comment, and so we have a record of what was sent.

We keep these records for 12 months, then delete them. You can ask us to delete yours sooner. If you never comment, this automation never sees you.

This website

Google Analytics 4 measures traffic here: pages viewed, how you arrived, approximate location, and device and browser details. It sets cookies in your browser to do that. We use it to understand which parts of the site people actually read. There is no advertising and no cross-site tracking on this site.

Cloudflare Turnstile protects the signup form by checking that a submission came from a person rather than a script. Vercel hosts this website and its public media, including the introduction video delivered through Vercel Blob.

Optional email updates

When you request the Bible reading plan or book updates, we store your first name, email address, and details about where the signup came from, including the page you signed up on, the site that referred you, and any campaign tags in the link you followed. That is held with Loops, which sends the resource and occasional related notes from Chris Vacher. You can unsubscribe from those messages at any time.

Pre-orders

When you place an order, Stripe processes your payment and collects the contact, billing, shipping, tax, and order details needed to complete it. We use that information to confirm your purchase, provide the Companions on the Long Way PDF, Team Kickoff Video, and Live Team Debrief included with your order, support you, and arrange printing and delivery.

Loops delivers purchase emails and digital attachments. Completing a purchase does not add you to the marketing audience. Bookvault receives the order and shipping information required to print and fulfill physical books.

How long we keep things

Instagram comment records are kept for 12 months and then deleted. Order records are kept for fulfillment, support, accounting, tax, fraud prevention, and other legal obligations. Email details are kept until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove them, subject to records we must retain. Service providers may process information in Canada, the United States, or other places where they operate.
